African Procurement Trends: Live Pipeline Data & Market Shifts
Procurement pipelines do not sit still. Tenders open, close, and get replaced by new ones on a rolling basis, and the pace of that turnover says as much about the market as the total number of open opportunities does. Right now, the Tamboti Tenders database is tracking 754 active tenders across Africa, but the more telling number is how many of those are moving in and out each week.
A pipeline in constant motion
In the past seven days, 88 new tenders were published into the active pipeline, while 301 of the currently open tenders are scheduled to close within the next seven days. In other words, roughly four in every ten open tenders right now will not still be open a week from now. For bidders working from a static list, or checking in only occasionally, that is enough turnover to miss opportunities entirely.
Where the churn is concentrated
Supplies and goods tenders continue to make up the largest single category at 178 open listings, with construction and works close behind at 106. These categories tend to have shorter bid windows than large infrastructure or consultancy assignments, which partly explains why they cycle through the pipeline faster than the headline numbers alone suggest.
What this means for how you should be searching
A market moving this quickly rewards bidders who check in often and set alerts rather than relying on memory of what was open the last time they looked. The tenders that get missed are usually not the large, well-publicized ones. They are the smaller, faster-moving listings that open and close inside a single working week.
