African Procurement Update: Live Tender Data and Market Trends
As of mid August 2026, there are 754 actively enriched procurement tenders open across Africa in the Tamboti Tenders database, spanning government ministries, parastatals, and development-funded projects in more than a dozen countries. This snapshot looks at where the activity is concentrated and how quickly the pipeline is moving.
Where the tenders are
Zimbabwe accounts for the largest share of open tenders at 403, followed by South Africa with 113 and Zambia with 54. Madagascar, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Tanzania, and Nigeria round out the next tier of activity. This concentration reflects where public procurement data is most consistently published and digitized, not necessarily where the most spending is happening overall.
What sectors are buying
Supplies and goods lead the current pipeline with 178 open tenders, ahead of construction and works at 106 and IT and ICT at 91. Consultancy assignments account for 79 open opportunities, with energy, transport, and water and sanitation projects making up most of the rest.

How fast the pipeline is turning over
Of the 754 open tenders, 301 are due to close within the next seven days, and 88 new tenders were added to the database in the past week alone. That pace of turnover is the main reason early visibility matters. A tender that looks unremarkable when it is published can close before a bidder who checks the listings only occasionally ever sees it.
